Liz was called to the bar in 1987 and for over 20 years has practised exclusively in the field of family law. She has a high level of expertise in both Child Law (public and private) and in ancillary relief applications involving substantial assets. She is ranked as one of the UK’s best barristers by the Chambers UK Bar Guide 2014
Liz is a former head of the St Philips Family Law Practise Group and has served as Deputy Head of Chambers. She regularly contributes to conferences and seminars, most recently speaking to her paper on transparency in the Family Courts at a one day event for solicitors and guardians in Birmingham

Liz acts for wives and husbands in cases involving substantial assets and often where the Court is faced with complex factual and expert evidence.
In recent years she has specialised in cases involving businesses where the Court has been required to consider forensic accounting evidence in order to value shareholdings and to assess liquidity. She has acted in a number of cases involving minority shareholdings where the issue of quasi partnership has arisen and where contribution arguments have featured.
Liz has extensive experience of cases involving significant pension assets where the issue of pension sharing /offset has been the subject of expert actuarial evidence.
Her breadth of experience in the field of family finance enables her to give forthright views as to likely outcomes at an early stage in proceedings and in that way to ensure that financial dispute resolutions are as effective as they can be.

Private Law Children and Domestic Abuse
Liz acts for parents and guardians( where appointed) in residence and contact cases of great sensitivety and often where the evidence of experts psychologists or psychaitrists aids the courts determination on wefare issues. Her vast experience in this field extends to cases involving an international element where clients need to be given comprehensive advise on an urgent basis.

Public Law Care and Adoption
Liz acts for Local Authorities, parents and guardians in cases involving serious non accidential injury, sexual abuse and chronic neglect. A great number of these cases are heard in the High Court and are complex factually and legally. Two cases in the last 12 months have involved infant deaths in which Liz was instructed to act on behalf of the parents in fact finding hearing which involved the consideration of complex medical evidence.
As a senior junior Liz often appeared against silks and lead junior counsel, most recently in a case involving fabricated illness.+ Add to Brochure
