Introduction

In addition to her Chancery practice (for which see JCT Website) Marisa is regularly instructed in personal injury/Clinical negligence matter and contentious employment issues. Marisa deals with all aspects of High Court, County Court and Employment Tribunal litigation. Marisa regularly participates in seminars relating to both procedural and substantive issues. Marisa is qualified to accept cases on a Direct Access basis where appropriate and undertakes direct access work on a regular basis.

Outside work Marisa is a Trustee of the Bridge Project in Bradford. This is a charity that deals with clients who are, or have suffered from substance misuse issues. Marisa is also a keen SCUBA diver and loves foreign travel and tropical fish!

Qualifications and Appointments:

  • Registered Nurse.
  • BA (hons) Essex University.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE) – University of Glamorgan.
  • Bar Vocational Course – Inns of Court School of Law.

 


Employment

Marisa regularly advises as to the merits of employment disputes. She represents both Claimants and Defendants in all Employment Tribunal Hearings.

Marisa has a strong history of internal employment related matters having given extensive advice to public sector organisations and small businesses. She has also undertaken high level internal investigation work in the public sector and private businesses which has included audit and investigatory work arising from internal and external complaints and disciplinary issues. This work has included professional conduct and competence matters with input from external professional bodies where appropriate.

Marisa has also chaired internal disciplinary hearings and appeal panels.

Marisa is popular with both professional and lay clients for her down to earth approach and robust advice. Notwithstanding her robust approach she is skilled at putting client’s at ease and is confident in dealing with any type of client.
