Gary Carney

1st Junior Clerk - Employment, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Clerk

I have been a barristers clerk for 18 years and I am responsible for the clerking operation of St Philips Employment, Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Sports Law team. The experience I gained at Cloisters has given me real exposure to clerking all aspects of Employment work and I bring with me a detailed understanding of complex Employment litigation. I am a valuable member of the Civil Clerking team and this reflects the continuing development of St Philips Employment and PI groups as one of the leading provider of advice and representation. Since I have joined St Philips I am pleased to say that chambers have expanded and have opened two new offices, one being in London and the other in Leeds – this shows that we are a forward thinking set.

When joining St Philips I relocated from London with my wife and daughter which was a very big move for us and I can say that since we moved we have never looked back. We have also had a new addition to the family and now have a little brother for my daughter – everyone have made us so welcome and new friends have been made within chambers and out of chambers.

I am a very big follower of Rugby, I played rugby from the age of 5 and was lucky enough to play for my county at Junior level and played in the 1st team for Bromley Rugby club for over 10 years – 3 of which I captained and had great success including playing in a cup final at Twickenham ( Which was a dream come true ) and also winning the league and Kent Plate final all in the same Year.
