Ian started his clerking career in 1999 as a junior clerk at a large regional set of chambers in the Midlands, gaining experience clerking: Personal Injury; Clinical Negligence; Employment and Family law.
In 2007 he was invited to join St Philips Chambers as a 1st Junior clerk and immediately established himself as an integral part of the clerking team both in Family and Regulatory law.
Since 2013 Ian’s role has concentrated solely on Family, Court of Protection and Social Care law, where he has been responsible, along with the Senior Clerk, for promoting, enhancing and developing the practices of over 50 individual barristers in these teams, whilst supervising more junior members of staff.
Ian deals with all areas of diary management and negotiates, assesses and fixes fees with solicitors for privately funded cases. In respect of legally aided cases, Ian liaises with instructing clients and our dedicated Fees Clerk to ensure that timely and accurate submissions of Events based cases, VHCC, co-defied rate feenotes, FGF and FAS claims are made.
Ian enjoys most sports, especially football and enjoys socialising and spending time with his family.
